OUR ORGANISATION
Women's Health East is a membership-based incorporated association,
registered under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981.
GOVERNANCE
The organisation is governed by a nine member Board of Management,
elected from the association's membership. Each Board member serves
a two year term and is eligible for re-election.
The Board of Management is responsible for setting and monitoring
the strategic direction of the organisation, determining governance
policies, and ensuring the organisation is meeting its legal, financial
and funding obligations. The Board of Management is also responsible
for the appointment and performance monitoring of the Chief Executive
Officer.
MANAGEMENT
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for operational management
of the organisation. This includes responsibility for the appointment
and management of staff, setting and monitoring operational policies
and procedures, financial and risk management, and compliance with
all relevant legislation and funding requirements.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership
of Women's Health East is open to any woman who lives, works or
studies in Melbourne's eastern metropolitan region, which covers
the municipalities of Boroondara, Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash,
Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges.
Organisational membership is also available to agencies providing
services within the region.
Membership is free and entitles you to vote in Board elections or
to nominate for a position on the Board of Management. Once you have become a member you will need to update your membership annually.

ABOUT US
Women’s Health East is a
community based regional women’s health promotion agency working
across the Melbourne Eastern Metropolitan Region. We work to improve
the health and wellbeing of girls and women.
The organisation, which is
a not-for-profit incorporated association, receives the majority
of its funding through the Department of Human Services.
The health promotion team at Women’s Health East works exclusively
in gender based health promotion, which involves:
• Working in partnership
with other health and community agencies to promote gender-based
planning in health promotion and service delivery, and to improve
service system access and responsiveness for women.
• Training and education programs for service providers
on women's health issues and gender awareness in planning and
service delivery
• Research into women's health needs
• Advocacy and consultancy within the health and community
sector to promote women's health and wellbeing
• Awareness raising of health and wellbeing issues experienced
by women
• Partnerships with service providers and establishing networks
to improve services for women
