YOUNG WOMEN TALKING NEWSLETTERS

What is important to you? Do you think its OK to sell pets for Christmas? Whose responsibility is contraception? Have you seen the latest movie or read the latest book? Do you know what ‘no diet day’ is all about? Do you have somewhere to voice your ideas?

Young women at Maroondah Secondary College and Croydon Community School thought these issues were important. They formed a group and have been brainstorming, discussing issues creating artwork, developing articles and putting it together into a magazine! Meeting once a week to chat, create and eat (of course we had great food!)… All the things we girls love doing!

STUDY RECRUITMENT

Do you ever experience sexual desire?

Women understand and experience sexual desire in a variety of ways. As yet, research into this important area of sexual health has been sparse.

A study is currently being conducted through Deakin University, Melbourne, to examine what constitutes a ‘normal’ range of sexual desire in women who are involved in a long-term (over 1 year duration), heterosexual relationship.

The aim of this research is to investigate what sexual desire actually is, and the types of factors that influence desire levels. From the results of this research, a scale will be developed to measure levels of sexual desire for use in clinical practice.

Participation is strictly confidential, and fun too! Interested?

Please contact dlgol@deakin.edu.au or go to http://www.deakin.edu.au/psychology/research/desire/ for more information.

Thank-you kindly,
Denisa Goldhammer
(Doctor of Clinical Psychology student)
